competitions

One of the most exciting things we do with FBLA are the competitions. There are over 60 different topics you can compete in. See our competition page for the topics or see Mr. Moore for group projects such as Business Ethics, Business Financial Plan, Business Presentation, Computer Game and Simulation Programming, Desktop Application Programming, E-Business, Emerging Business Issues, Digital Video Production, Web Site Development and American Enterprise System. He has the topics for these competitions and you can really get a good jump start by beginning to prepare now! If you do well enough at regionals, you might just earn yourself a trip to state (Seattle) or nationals (San Antonio). New this year - In order to prepare properly, the deadline to sign up to compete will be November 1. We will be hosting a "Competition Info Night in October" to help you decipher the different competitions.

Adopt a highway (top)

During the fall of 2008, FBLA joined with the Department of Transportation, and has officially “Adopted a Highway”. Our stretch of highway is from Darknell Road to the Palouse Highway, approximately two miles. Stay tuned for our fall clean-up day!

Freeman Cares 4 kids (top)

In December, Freeman FBLA will sponsor our ninth annual "Freeman Cares 4 Kids". This is a day where parents can drop off their kids and then go shopping, decorate the house, or simply take in a movie! Children have the opportunity to make a "bunch" of things in our craft area; play one of a number of board games (Chutes and Ladders, Twister, Candyland, etc...); Relax and watch one of our many movies (Walle, Elf, How the Grich Stole Christmas, etc...); Jump and bounce to their hearts content in our new feature - the Jumping Castle; Challenge themselfs in our video game room (four different game systems, with numerous games, projected onto large screens); Play one of many "athletic games", including basketball, bowling, and/or whiffleball; and also enjoy some snacks to get their energy back to do it all over again! Our Chapter is especially thankful for "Charlie's Produce", which for seven straight years, has donated a great deal of fruit to our snack room! Thank you for your continued support of our chapter! We can't do it without your generosity.
Parents - Thank you for letting us take care of your kids over the years on this special day. Over 45 children took par in 2010! Members - Get ready for another great time!

pro sports career day (top)

For five years, we have ventured to Seattle and/or Portland to attend the Pro Sports Career Day. This has been a great trip to learn more about career opportunities in professional sports, in addition to learning from other business in the area, such as McAfee, UL, OMSI, Boeing, Seattle Underground, EMP, the Portland Trailblazers, the Portland Zoo, and the Seattle Mariners and Seahawks. We have also been able to attend both Sonic and Blazer basketball games. It's a great time for learning and socializing! Due to the expense of this trip, this is an "every other year" trip. So........ Stay tuned for information on our 2012-13 "Sports Business Days."

Cyrus o'leary pies (top)

For the tenth straight year, our FBLA chapter will partner up with Cryus O'Learys for our annual FBLA Turkey Day pie fundraiser. Thank you to all the members who sold pies and to all the community members who purchased them in the past! Our pie sale will begin at the middle of October!

Burgers with a heart(top)

Freeman FBLA has supported the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery since 1999. In the "Burgers with a Heart" program, FBLA members volunteer at Red Robin (in February) and sell paper hearts to community members for donations of $1 or more. Red Robin also donates $.50 to the nursery for every gourmet burger sold. For the last seven years, Freeman High School has raised more money than any other high school in the greater Spokane area. Last year we raised $2308! With this accomplishment, our chapter has been awarded with the “Spirit With A Heart” trophy for the sixth straight year! During this time, we are proud to have raised $10,096 for the Vanessa Behan Crisis Nursery. Funds raised in the “Burgers with a Heart” program go directly to support the Nursery. This program will kick off at the end of January.
